I don’t think of it as replacing my creativity or judgment. I think of it more like having a very patient assistant who can help me sort through a messy pile of thoughts and turn them into something usable.
1. Organizing My Ideas When My Brain Feels Full
One of the biggest ways I use ChatGPT is simply to get ideas out of my head and into some kind of order. As an artist, instructor, and business owner, I often have too many overlapping thoughts at once: paintings, courses, blog posts, emails, websites, finances, family logistics, and future projects.
ChatGPT helps me:
- Turn scattered notes into a plan
- Break large projects into smaller steps
- Decide what to do first
- Compare options when I feel overwhelmed
- Create outlines before I start writing
This has been especially helpful for projects that feel too big to begin. Instead of trying to figure out the whole thing at once, I can ask for a first draft, a simple next step, or a high-level structure.
2. Writing and Refining Marketing Content
A huge part of my business involves communicating clearly: blog posts, Pinterest descriptions, email sequences, course descriptions, product pages, and website copy. ChatGPT helps me get from “I know what I mean” to “this is something another person can actually understand.”
I use it to help write and revise:
- Blog posts
- Pinterest pin descriptions
- SEO-friendly product descriptions
- Email welcome sequences
- Course sales page copy
- Quiz result emails
- Website headlines and calls to action
What I find most helpful is not that it writes perfectly the first time, but that it gives me something to react to. I can say, “That sounds too salesy,” or “Make it warmer,” or “This needs to sound more like me,” and then we keep shaping it.
3. Building My Art Courses and Student Resources
I’ve also used ChatGPT extensively in the development of my painting courses and mini-courses. It helps me think through structure, student experience, lesson order, and the language I use to explain what students will learn.
For example, I’ve used it to help with:
- Course outlines
- Lesson titles and summaries
- Sales page sections
- Student checklists
- Mini-course positioning
- Beta launch explanations
- Email support during launches
This is especially useful because teaching art requires more than just knowing how to paint. I have to explain the process in a way that feels clear, encouraging, and not overwhelming for students.
4. Improving My Websites and Online Presence
I use ChatGPT as a sounding board for my websites, including my fine art website, print shop, course site, and blog. Sometimes that means strategy and messaging. Other times, it means more practical help with page layouts, SEO fields, or custom CSS.
Some examples include:
- Deciding what should go on a homepage
- Writing SEO titles and descriptions
- Improving calls to action
- Creating navigation sections
- Troubleshooting website layout issues
- Thinking through how my different brands connect
Because I have several related parts of my business — original paintings, prints, courses, and artist resources — it helps to have a tool that can keep the bigger picture in mind while also helping with the tiny details.
5. Brainstorming Art, Books, and Creative Projects
ChatGPT has also been helpful for creative brainstorming. I use it to explore ideas for paintings, blog series, books, and future products.
Some of the creative projects I’ve talked through include:
- Painting idea blog posts
- Art history-inspired projects
- A possible coffee table book
- Quiz questions based on creative personality types
- Subject ideas for art calls and exhibitions
- Ways to connect my artwork with broader conversations about creativity
This is one of the areas where I do not want ChatGPT to “do the creative work” for me. Instead, I use it to push ideas around, ask better questions, and help me see connections I might not have noticed yet.
6. Planning Email Funnels and Audience Communication
Email marketing has been one of the more complicated areas of my business, partly because my audience includes collectors, students, artists, and people who are simply curious about creativity.
ChatGPT helps me think through:
- What a new subscriber should receive first
- How to welcome people after they take a quiz
- How to revive an inactive email list
- How to talk about offers without sounding pushy
- How to create different paths for different audience types
This has helped me move from “I should probably send an email” to having actual sequences, subjects, preview text, and a plan for what happens next.
7. Solving Everyday Personal and Tech Problems
It’s not all business. I also use ChatGPT for very practical personal questions — the kind of things I might otherwise spend too long Googling.
I’ve used it for help with:
- Apple Watch troubleshooting
- MacBook and external hard drive issues
- iPhone and iPad questions
- Organizing contacts and group messages
- Home repair questions
- Room size estimates
- Sewing and alteration tips
In these cases, I’m usually looking for a calm step-by-step explanation. When something is frustrating, it helps to have the next few things to try laid out clearly.
8. Making Sense of Data and Decisions
Another surprising use has been data organization. I’ve used ChatGPT to help review spreadsheets, lists, transactions, contact files, and personal logs.
This includes things like:
- Merging contact lists
- Preparing import files
- Reviewing spending patterns
- Summarizing repeating expenses
- Looking at weight trends and weekly averages
- Creating timelines from transaction data
This is helpful because raw information can be hard to interpret. ChatGPT can help me see patterns, ask better questions, and decide what needs closer attention.
9. Thinking Through Family and Life Logistics
I also use ChatGPT when I need help thinking through sensitive or complicated personal situations. Not because it can replace human judgment, but because it can help me slow down and organize my thoughts before I respond or make a decision.
That might include:
- Planning family communication
- Thinking through care needs for older relatives
- Organizing tasks during stressful situations
- Drafting messages that need to be clear but kind
- Weighing options when there is no perfect answer
For me, this is less about getting “the answer” and more about having a place to think carefully.
10. What ChatGPT Does — and Does Not — Do for Me
The biggest misconception about using ChatGPT is that it means handing over your voice, creativity, or decision-making. That is not how I use it.
I still make the final decisions. I still edit the language. I still decide what feels true, what sounds like me, and what belongs in my business.
What ChatGPT does is help me move faster from confusion to clarity. It gives me a starting point when I am stuck, a second opinion when I am unsure, and a structure when I have too many ideas competing for attention.
In that sense, it has become one of the most useful tools I use — not because it replaces my thinking, but because it helps me think more clearly.
